OPEN for submissions

We are seeking weird, surreal, funny, spooky, beautiful, and dreamy. Blends of more than one of these are welcome here.

And when we say we want your weird, surreal, funny, spooky, beautiful, and dreamy, we mean we want only your BEST in those categories. Polished, final drafts. And then light our fuse with what you’ve got. We love unforgettable opening lines, poems that make the mind sweat, stories that earworm into the heart and visual art so arresting that we wish we could touch it.

Anyone is welcome to submit, from the new to the experienced.

Visual art:

  • Art can be photographs, digital, or hand-drawn/painted
  • Submit up to five pieces to bombfirelit@gmail.com
  • Just visual art: the subject line of your submission should read,”Your Name – Visual Art Submission”
  • For submissions that combine poetry and visual art, the subject line of your submission should read, “Your Name – Poetry/Visual Art Submission”
  • A title for the piece is great but not required
  • A description of the piece is great but not required
  • jpg or png as attachments with titles and descriptions in the email is fine
  • Include a short bio written in third person

Poetry submissions:

  • Any form of poetry will be considered
  • Submit up to three pieces to bombfirelit@gmail.com
  • Just poetry: the subject line of your submission should read,”Your Name – Poetry Submission”
  • For submissions that combine poetry and visual art, the subject line of your submission should read, “Your Name – Poetry/Visual Art Submission”
  • doc or docx as an attachment with all the pieces on separate pages in one file
  • Include a short bio written in third person

Flash Fiction:

  • Submit one piece with less than 1000 words to bombfirelit@gmail.com
  • The subject line of your submission should read,”Your Name – Flash Fiction Submission”
  • doc or docx as an attachment
  • Include a short bio written in third person

Other important things:

  • If your work is accepted, please wait one month from your work’s publication date before submitting again
  • Simultaneous submissions are NOT accepted as of 11/16/2023
  • We do not accept previously published writing of any genre
  • At the moment, we are not able to pay you for submissions
  • We ask for first North American Serial Rights. All rights revert to author/artist when published
  • Posts are updated biweekly every Saturday
