City of Cameras by Rinanda Hidayat

They blink, for some reason they blink, these cameras with their red glaring eyes staring at you,  watching every of your moves, your steps, your breath, there’s no escape from this eternal warden, except for those few precious seconds when they for some reason, blink.

These cameras swarm the city, making their nest in every corner of the city, drowning the city in their red glow and when they blink, the city breathes; all its colorful neon light shine with every color but red, it sings, it dances, it lives, then a second passed, the cameras opened their eyes, drowning the city in red once more.

This blinking happens once every hour lasting for exactly 3 seconds, and in those precious 3 seconds, every crime is overlooked from the pettiest of thefts to the cruelest murders, but only on those 3 seconds, so if you wish to kill someone, make sure they die in 3 or less, else those cameras will leave their nest and hunt you down, till your blood become their red glow.

Despite the 3 seconds rule, the city is quite peaceful, no crimes of passion, no elaborate revenge plots, no loophole murders, the people are too starved for anything but red that the thought of committing crimes in those precious 3 second would be the greatest sins of all, instead we sing, we dance, we live.
